Privacy Policy

The Wanting Mind ("the App") is a free interactive book created by kensaurus. This policy lists what the App stores on your device, what optional accounts sync to the cloud, and who processes payments and crash reports.

What We Collect

Data stored on your device only (never sent to us):

• Reading preferences (theme, font, text size)
• Reading progress and scroll position per chapter
• Bookmarks
• Audio playback position

This data is saved in your browser's local storage and never transmitted unless you explicitly opt in to cloud sync (see below).

Supporter Accounts (Optional)

If you choose to create an account and become a Supporter:

• Email address — used for magic-link login via Supabase Auth. We do not store passwords.
• Reading progress and bookmarks — synced to Supabase so you can pick up where you left off on any device.
• Payment information — processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.

Error Monitoring

We use Sentry to detect and fix bugs. Sentry may collect anonymized error data, device type, browser version, and session replays (limited to error sessions). No personal content or reading activity is captured.

Analytics

The App does not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party advertising trackers. We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way.

Push Notifications (Mobile App)

The mobile app may request permission to send push notifications for new content updates. You can decline or disable notifications at any time in your device settings. Tokens are processed by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for delivery; we do not use them for advertising.

AI-Powered Features

The App uses third-party AI services to provide optional features such as concept explanations, reading assistance, and interactive discussions about the book's content. When you use these features:

• Anthropic (Claude) — text you submit to AI features (e.g. questions about the book, concept explanations) is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models. No personal identifiers (name, email, device ID) are included in these requests.
• AI features are optional — the core reading experience works without them.
• No reading activity, highlights, bookmarks, or personal notes are sent to AI services unless you explicitly submit them via an AI feature.

Cookies

The App does not use cookies for tracking. Supabase Auth may use a session token stored in local storage for authentication purposes only.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Delete Your Account

You can delete your account directly from The Wanting Mind app:

1. Open The Wanting Mind at kensaur.us/the-wanting-mind
2. Tap the account icon (top-right corner)
3. Sign in if you are not already signed in
4. Scroll down to Data & Privacy
5. Tap "Delete my account"
6. Confirm the deletion

When you request account deletion:

• All your cloud-synced data (bookmarks, reading progress, settings) is deleted immediately.
• Your account is scheduled for permanent deletion after 14 days.
• During the 14-day grace period, you can cancel the deletion by signing back in and choosing "Cancel Deletion."
• After 14 days, your account and all associated data (including purchase records) are permanently and irreversibly deleted.

Delete Your Data (Without Deleting Your Account)

If you want to keep your account but remove all cloud-synced data:

1. Open The Wanting Mind at kensaur.us/the-wanting-mind
2. Tap the account icon (top-right corner)
3. Sign in if you are not already signed in
4. Scroll down to Data & Privacy
5. Tap "Delete my cloud data (keep account)"
6. Confirm the deletion

This will permanently delete all your cloud-synced bookmarks, reading progress, and settings. Your account will remain active, and you can continue using the app.

To clear data stored locally on your device, clear your browser's site data for kensaur.us (or uninstall the app on mobile).

If you have any trouble deleting your account or data, contact privacy@kensaur.us and we will process your request within 72 hours.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
